Although I seldom “meet” an Hermès carré I do not like, there are definitely those, that when I see them, my pupils enlarge, my mouth stretches into a big smile and my heart skips a beat. Each colorway is spectacular and my photos simply do not do this scarf justice.
Monnaies et Symboles des Parisii HERMES carre by Zoe Pauwels is definitely one of those scarves!
Zoe’s circles and perfect squares layered on top of each other, her repeating intersecting lines, create the perfect backdrop for the ancient Celtic coins arranged on top of this “grid”. Her shading create the illusion of metal, depth and space.
Together this perfect symmetry and balance draw you in and with it, the perfect spell is cast.
The two-tone color schemes do not detract, but, in my opinion, only add to the beauty of this composition.
The Monnaies et Symboles des Parisii, Currencies and Symbols of the Parisii, depicts various coins and symbols of the Celtic people, who lived along the Seine river in the heart of France and who gave name to modern day Paris.
