Le Geographe, an intricate silk jacquard, was designed by Sandra Laroche, who has created to my knowledge, three additional carres for the Maison Hermes: Au Clair de la Lune, Fleurs d’Hiver and Per Astra Ad Astra being her most recent and perhaps also best known creation.
Le Geographe, her first Hermes design from 1992, is a beautiful scarf, rich in detail and storytelling. Australia’s four explorers, Charles-Alexandre Lesueur, Nicolas-Thomas Baudin and François Péron are depicted in each corner and at the center is Australia herself surrounded by her unique flora and fauna.
Ocean blues enhance the richness and luminosity of the anker and kangaroo silk jacquard – this scarf is a real treasure.
