Les Parures du Vent Hermès Carré Inspiration

Les Parures du Vent Hermès carré by Joachim Metz (1991)

Les Parures du Vent literally translates to “Ornaments of the Wind”.  Joachim Metz captures in great detail, some of the most interesting hood ornaments of luxury cars, some of which no longer in existence, such as the Hispano Suiza.

Hispano-Suiza (Spanish-Swiss; translation) was a Spanish automotive company founded in 1904, and was famous for its luxury cars prior to World War II.  Other companies, such as Jaguar and Rolls Royce are also represented in this design.  And for good fun, Metz also incorporated several car clubs such as the Automobile Club of Verona and the Automobile Club de Picardie et de L’Aisne.

A striking commonality emerges when examining all the beautiful hood ornaments scattered about this carré: winged or un-, they are poised for flight, as if ready to launch from the most opulent of hoods.

This sense of unbridled freedom perfectly embodies the spirit of the Les Parures du Vent Hermès carré, where caution is thrown to the wind.
