But back to the Les Chevaux d’Après Van der Meulen. Van der Meulen was a seventeenth century Flemish painter. Adam Frans van der Meulen was renowned for his dynamic battle scenes. He significantly influenced the development of military painting in France, where he lived and enjoyed a flourishing career

Van der Meulen was especially famous for his accurate depictions of horses in various battle scenes.  He developed several studies of horses, that he and his apprentices used as references and models for numerous paintings.

In his d’Apres van der Meulen carré, Hugo Grygkar masterfully depicts twenty-nine horses engaged in a dynamic array of poses and activities, creating a captivating study in his own right.

Grygkar’s study, however, is not confined to a frame, a museum; it is a wearable work of art, designed to be worn and enjoyed year-round!
