Cavaliers Peuls Hermès carré was designed by Jean de Fougerolle and first issued in 1997.
Inspired by the Fulani Horseman, as the French name suggests, the carré features several vignettes that beautifully showcase the horsemanship and daily life of the Fula or Fulani people, the largest ethnic group in the Sahel and West Africa.
No wonder then that this masterfully executed portrayal was part of the Year of Africa (1997).
