This fabulous lightweight silk Lalbhai its official title, is the perfect scarf for breezy summer days and cooler evenings.
Although extra large (140 cm or 55 inches square) its lightweight summer silk is not bulky and will allow you to wear it as not just a scarf, but as a dress, a wrap and even a skirt.
It was not designed by Michel Duchene as I had previously stated, instead credit has been given to an ancient Indian design.
The Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Institute of Indology has been collecting and preserving Indian manuscripts, drawings and woodwork, books, coins, and other artifacts since 1956. In 1984 a museum opened on the same premises and is open to the public. The institute grew out of the dedication and vision of two men, an Indian monk, Muni Punyavijayaji, and a wealthy industrialist, Sheth Kasturbhai Lalbhai.
Both men shared a vision to preserve Indian heritage, culture and religions.
Today, the Institute and museum house well over 100,000 rare books and manuscripts and invaluable collections of statues and paintings including the largest head of Buddha (c. 5th century).
