Envol Hermès Carré – Inspiration

There were two versions of the Envol Hermès carré, both issued in 1995/96.

Envol Hermès Carré
Envol Hermès carré by Joachim Metz (1995/96) – without the reference to the UN was issued in several colorways

The scarf below is a Limited Edition of the Envol Hermès carré, “Taking Flight or Soaring“, and commemorates 50 years of the United Nations with the United Nations preamble (not verbatim) inscribed on the ribbon.

Envol Limited Edition Hermès carré by Joachim Metz (1995/96) – SOLD

This Limited Edition incorporates the slogan “We the Peoples of the United Nations united for a Better World for all“, which the original issue lacks. “We the peoples of the United Nations,” is the official and famous opening line of the Preamble to the UN Charter. What follows on the Envol Hermès carré, “united for a better world for all,” is not a direct quote from the Charter itself. Instead, it is a catchy phrase that captures the spirit and overall mission of the UN. The Charter’s Preamble and subsequent articles detail the goals of promoting peace, human rights, social progress, and better standards of life, all of which fall under the umbrella of creating a “a better world for all.”

Additionally, the number “50”, “United Nations” and the UN logo replace the name of the original Envol issue (below).
