Les Beaux Jours de Bonsai Hermès carré was designed by Catherine Baschet and issued in 1991. That year Hermès celebrated Asia as a theme and it is then no surprise that this design was part of a collection, which included other favorites, such as Art des Steppes, Brise de Charme, Nikko and Samourai.

Les Beaux Jours de Bonsai Hermès carré is also simply known as Bonsai.

Catherine Baschet centers her design around the Japanese art of Bonsai, which dates back to the 6th century and takes its origins from the Chinese art, penzai, where trees and other plants are artistically shaped into miniature versions and landscapes.
The art of Bonsai takes a perennial woody-stemmed tree or shrub species and through careful skilled pruning and training creates an artful miniature version of itself.
You don’t need to be an arborist to appreciate the beauty of the trees represented in Baschet’s carre.

Just like the art of bonsai, the Les Beaux Jours de Bonsai Hermès carré mirrors its inspiration, by taking the beauty of nature and transforming it into a grand masterpiece.
