24 Faubourg Seconde & Ginza Hermès Carrés

24 Faubourg Seconde Hermès carré Limited Edition
24 Faubourg Seconde Hermès carré by Dimitri Rybaltchenko (2011) Limited Edition

This is a second Limited Edition Hermès carre, which was issued to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the Hermès headquarters in Tokyo, Japan at 4-1, Ginza 5. Please see my pervious post for the first Ginza carre, which was issued to celebrate the opening of the Glass tower in 2001.

Ginza (Special Issue) Hermès carré was designed by Hajine Katagiri and issued in 2001

Construction of the 65,000 square foot structure began in 1998 and was completed in 2001. It houses not just the Hermes corporate headquarters, but also the flagship store as well as numerous workshops, offices, a shopping space, exhibition areas and multimedia quarters.

The Hermes Glass tower was conceived by an Italian architect, Renzo Piano, and the American firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson.

Renzo Piano is known for memorable structures such as the Whitney (Museum of American Art) in Lower Manhattan, New York and the Shard in London.

The Bohlin Cywinski Jackson architectural practice with San Francisco Bay Area roots also has an impressive portfolio, which includes the Pixar Headquarters in Emeryville, California, numerous Apple store fronts and the Gates House in Washington State.

Issued as a Limited Edition in 2011 ten years after the completion of the Hermès headquarters located at 4-1 Ginza 5, Tokyo Japan, this design is quite rare

The Maison Hermès in Ginza, Tokyo
